FERROUS PARK

This project involves the design of a housing project with seven individual dwellings in the Crossroads Arts District in Kansas City, Missouri. Our submission was selected, along with two others, from the Ferrous Park International Architectural Design Competition. As described in the project brief: …the entire project seeks to offer an approach for integrating new housing construction into urban core redevelopment by preserving and strengthening the early aspects of a neighborhood identity as physical, social and financial development merges into a burgeoning neighborhood. The goal is to emphasize new construction technologies, off-site production of building components and environmentally-friendly products and means of production (i.e. sustainable and green construction). A feature of our submission employed a contemporary adaptation of the thermal chimney as a means to naturally supplement heating and cooling requirements year round.
